Tapan Majumder

Tapan Majumder graduated from Jadavpur University in Applied Geology followed by Masters and Ph.D. Obtained professional geological field mapping and exploration experience with Indian Bureau of Mines and Geological Survey of India.

Joined Indian School of Mines at Dhanbad, India as a lecturer and retired as Professor and Head the the Dept of Applied Geology; he was awarded the D.Sc. from that Institute.
Introduced geostatistics, environmental geology and mineral economics. Supervised 7 Ph. D, around 100 M.Sc. and M. Tech dissertations and published 38 papers in peer reviewed journals and three book chapters. Associated with three IGCP and did geological field visits to Finland, Australia, Kuwait, Egypt, China, France, UK and other places.

Currently engaged as consultant and functional area expert in geology and hydrology for environmental impact assessment and clearance for major and minor mineral.
