Jakub JIRÁSEK is associate professor of Economic Geology, working the VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Mining and Geology. He finished his master and doctoral studies (Ing., Ph.D.) in 2001, 2005 respectively.

His research objectives are geology of coal basin, energy policy and security, and mineralogy. He has regular lectures in Economic geology, Classification of mineral deposits, and Mineral utilization.

He is the author/co-author of 53 articles, 16 of them in journals with impact factor (e.g., Energy Policy, Energy Sources part B).

Jakub Jirásek is member of the Czech Geological Society, Czech Society of Economic Geology, Czech National Geological Committee, and "Ad Hoc Group of External Scientific and Technical Experts - Geological Exploration" of the Interoceanmetal Joint Organization (IOM).
